San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama already gave fans a major scare after suffering a serious blood clot during just the second season of his NBA career. Although the French phenom completed the 2025-26 campaign without experiencing any major health setbacks, former NBA star Chris Bosh urged Wembanyama not to take the condition lightly.

In a recent interview, the two-time NBA champion reflected on his own battle with recurring blood clots and offered heartfelt advice to Wembanyama

«Take your medicine,” Bosh said. “Make sure that he’s staying on top of his regimen to make sure that doesn’t happen again because it only takes one more time. It happened one more time for me, it happened twice, and I couldn’t play anymore.»

Bosh’s own NBA career came to an abrupt end in 2016 after he was diagnosed with blood clots that had traveled to his lungs. He spent more than a year exploring different treatment options in hopes of returning to the court. However, independent medical specialists repeatedly declined to clear him, believing that continuing his playing career posed an unacceptable threat to his life.

Shortly after making his first NBA All-Star appearance, Wembanyama was diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis in his right shoulder. The diagnosis forced him to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season as he underwent treatment and carefully followed a blood-thinning medication program under medical supervision.

Fortunately for the Spurs, Wembanyama successfully completed his treatment and returned at full strength for the 2025-26 season. He went on to appear in 64 regular-season games and played a pivotal role in leading San Antonio to the 2026 NBA Finals.
