Young Spurs talent finds fresh opportunity after San Antonio moves on

Fresh off their 2026 NBA Finals appearance, the San Antonio Spurs entered the offseason determined to take the next step from an emerging contender to a consistent championship-caliber team. As part of their 2026 offseason plans, the Spurs needed to create room on their two-way roster for draft picks.

To accomplish that, San Antonio withdrew its qualifying offer to Harrison Ingram. The move made the young forward an unrestricted free agent instead of retaining his place on the team’s two-way roster.

Shortly afterward, Ingram found a new opportunity by signing with the Utah Jazz. The organization officially confirmed the move in a press release issued on Saturday, announcing the addition of the former Spurs second-round selection.

«The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has signed forward Harrison Ingram. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed,» the team wrote.

The agreement is expected to give Ingram a chance to compete for a spot on Utah’s regular-season roster during training camp. There is also the possibility for him of joining the franchise’s G League affiliate if he does not make the final roster. 

Ingram was selected with the 48th overall pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft out of North Carolina. He spent his first two NBA seasons on two-way contracts with the Spurs.

During his time in San Antonio, Ingram appeared in 12 NBA games, averaging 1.3 points and 1.0 rebound in 5.1 minutes per contest. He also played 88 games for the Austin Spurs in the G League, where he posted averages of 14.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.
