Around 11:00pm on Thursday night, Volpato was issued an infringement notice after being caught driving 20km/h over the limit on ANZAC Bridge, not far from Sydney’s CBD.

Two hours later at 1:00am, Volpato was pulled over for travelling nearly 50km/h over the speed limit on ANZAC Bridge once again.

Police administered a drugs test to Volpato, who tested positive for cocaine, with the results of a secondary test sample sent off for analysis.

Volpato has not been charged with any criminal offences but has his international driver’s licence suspended for six months.

The 22-year-old was one of Australia’s best players at the recent World Cup after sitting the first match against Turkey on the bench.

He only committed his future to the Socceroos in late May after playing for Italy’s junior national teams over the past couple of seasons.

Volpato is currently on the books of Serie A side Sassuolo and has been linked with a move to Fiorentina.
