Lionel Messi’s goal made announcer lose his whole voice in 35-second ‘gol’ call on Telemundo

Argentina put together a World Cup comeback on Tuesday against Egypt that likely had everyone watching feel a bit like they were dreaming.

And yep, there at the heart of it was Lionel Messi, who scored a game-tying goal that made Telemundo’s announcer lose his voice, and probably his mind.

Messi’s goal tied the match 2-2 in the 83rd minute, and Argentina eventually came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with three goals beginning in the 79th minute onward.

And frankly, there’s no need for us to wax poetic.

There was no way to hold out one syllable for 35 seconds, not at this point in a hectic match.

So the call instead turned into a handful of individual syllables, held out over and over again, covering 35 seconds.

It’s one of those moments where there really isn’t much else to say.

It may not be the prettiest goal of Messi’s career, but it was powerful and came at a time when his World Cup career was hanging in the balance. As far as meaning, it was only too fitting that Messi popped up at the right time to deliver for his country once again.

Any kind of screams would’ve worked just fine for the announcer. That’s surely what the entirety of Argentina was doing at that moment.

And when Enzo Fernandez scored the winner in stoppage time? Yeah, even more madness.
