In the days ahead, though, Wondo is going to want to stay away from social media.
The USMNT plays Belgium on Monday in the World Cup Round of 16.
They were also foes 12 years ago in the same round, and Wondolowski had a glorious chance to win the game at the end of regulation.
He totally shanked it.
Belgium won in extra time, despite a record-setting number of saves from Tim Howard.

It would’ve been a massive victory, and there’s no telling what would’ve come next for the United States off the back of an upset of a European power.
Instead, the U.S. hasn’t made it further than that round since, and Monday will be their chance.
It’s Belgium again, this Belgian team coming off an absurd late rally to beat Senegal earlier on Wednesday.
The U.S. will be hoping whatever curse was on that ball that Wondolowski sent wide will have worn off by now.
