Australia Adds 12 More Gambling Domains to Block List

Australia’s communications watchdog has added 12 more websites to its list of prohibited domains as it continues to crack down on illegal online gambling. The latest move adds to a wider enforcement effort aimed at operators accused of breaching the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

New Domains Flagged

The Australian Communications and Media Authority said the newly targeted domains include 7Signs, Chromabet, Donbet, Duospin, Freshbet, Slots Gem, Jacks Club, and Lucky Start, among others. The regulator said the websites have been operating in Australia without the required licences.

In some cases, the platforms are also said to have offered products that are not allowed in the country, including online casino games of chance. The authority said the domains fall within its continuing enforcement response to illegal gambling activity.

The action reflects the regulator’s ongoing approach of identifying websites, investigating them, and then directing internet service providers to block access. That process has been repeated as the authority works through a growing list of suspected operators.

Enforcement Keeps Expanding

Since the blocking regime began, the regulator has suspended 1,751 illegal gambling and affiliate websites. It has also taken action against a number of suppliers. At the same time, 230 services have chosen to withdraw voluntarily.

Even with those results, illegal gambling websites remain active. Many operators have responded to blocks by launching mirror sites and continuing to target Australians online.

That has made the regulator’s task more difficult, since each round of blocking can be followed by another replacement domain. The authority’s approach remains detailed and gradual, with each website reviewed individually before action is taken.

Pressure On Promoters

The regulator has also broadened its focus beyond the websites themselves. In addition to blocking domains, it has gone after people inside the country who help these operators reach customers.

That has included influencers, with the watchdog aiming to discourage prominent internet personalities from advertising gambling websites. The move shows that the regulator is not limiting enforcement to offshore operators alone, but is also targeting promotional activity connected to them.

By widening its efforts in that way, the authority is trying to close off more of the channels used to steer Australian users toward illegal gambling sites. The new round of blocked domains adds to that pattern of repeated enforcement.

Ongoing Crackdown

The latest 12-domain action shows that Australia’s campaign against illegal gambling websites is still active and ongoing. With hundreds of sites already blocked and more being added, the regulator continues to treat the issue as a continuing compliance problem.

The authority’s latest step is part of a broader strategy aimed at cutting access to unlawful online gambling products and disrupting the operators behind them. For now, the list keeps growing as the watchdog continues to monitor, investigate, and block new domains.
