UKGC Fines Stakelogic £122,835 for Breaching Slot Speed Rules

Stakelogic BV has agreed to pay £122,835 after the UK Gambling Commission found that several of its online slot games breached responsible product design standards.

The issue centered on the minimum spin speed requirement, which mandates a 2.5‑second gap between game cycles. The company reported the problem itself, admitting that its game Tiger Temple 88 had been running at 1.97 seconds per spin.

A wider review later revealed that 15 other titles also failed to meet the standard, though by smaller margins.

Multiple games operated under the threshold

The Commission’s investigation showed that Stakelogic had relied on manual stopwatch testing to measure spin speeds, a method the regulator described as inaccurate and inadequate.

John Pierce, Director of Enforcement and Intelligence, said, “With all the technological resources available to an online gambling business, it is unacceptable that Stakelogic were relying on a manual stopwatch to measure the speed of their games.”

The regulator noted that Tiger Temple 88 remained live for two days after the fault was discovered, only being suspended once a fix was deployed.

A subsequent review of the company’s portfolio found timing errors ranging from 0.001 to 0.675 seconds below the required minimum. Many of the games were operating just 42 milliseconds under the threshold, but all were deemed non‑compliant.

Minimum slot speeds were introduced in 2021 to reduce the intensity of play and protect consumers from harm. The UKGC urged firms to review their own testing practices, noting that fast game cycles are linked to higher risks for players.

Pierce added: “We would urge all operators to take careful note of this case and ensure they have effective testing practices in place to ensure they are meeting all the standards we require.”

As part of the settlement, Stakelogic will pay £122,835 to the consolidated fund and cover the Commission’s investigation costs. The company has accepted responsibility, cooperated fully, and committed to strengthening its quality assurance and incident management processes.
