LOTEP and TikTok Brazil Open Dialogue on Regulation and Digital Advertising in Gaming

State Lottery of Paraíba (LOTEP) has had an institutional meeting with representatives of TikTok Brazil, where the issues of regulatory control, operator supervision, and digital advertising were discussed in relation to the gaming and betting sector. The meeting took place in LOTEP Headquarters, João Pessoa, and involved the officials from the technology, communications, technical management, and enforcement departments of the regulator, as well as its licensed operators.

The representatives of TikTok Brazil presented the features of the platform’s content control, safety of users, and their advertising guidelines. Discussions focused on how digital platforms and regulators can cooperate in order to make sure that gaming content adheres to legal requirements and contributes to developing responsible communication practices.

Initiative illustrates the growing awareness of the importance of digital platforms in terms of the visibility of the regulated gaming markets. Cooperation between regulators and technology companies becomes especially significant in the context of evolving betting regulation in Brazil.

Transparency, User Protection and Compliance with Regulations

During the meeting, the officials of LOTEP introduced the existing regulatory framework in Paraíba. It included the process of licensing of operators, auditing and monitoring systems, and other tools aimed at increasing transparency and providing user protection in the regulated market.

On their part, representatives of TikTok provided additional information about the safety of the platform and the ways of enforcing advertising standards. During the discussion, participants explored the use of digital technologies to improve compliance and help users to identify reliable operators.

According to LOTEP, such initiatives help to enhance control over legal gaming activities and reduce risks associated with illegal operators. At the same time, the regulator stressed the importance of maintaining alignment of advertising practices with responsible gaming principles.

“It is extremely important to maintain constant dialogue with digital platforms to improve communication practices and create an increasingly safe, transparent, and regulatory-compliant environment“, noted Milena Mélo, Communications Advisor and member of LOTEP Responsible Gaming Commission.

Other Initiatives in Support of Regulatory Framework

Meeting with TikTok is only one of the actions taken by LOTEP in order to establish cooperation with the representatives of digital platforms and other stakeholders in the gaming ecosystem. Earlier in 2026, the regulator organized a separate strategic event in João Pessoa, involving operators, lawyers, and other specialists in the field.

The goal of the meeting was to strengthen the regulatory model of Paraíba and ensure that the local market corresponds to international standards of compliance, transparency, and security. The participants discussed the current challenges and opportunities of the sector with regard to its sustainable development and efficient supervision.

“Dialogue with operators plays a crucial role in the further development of the industry. We strive for the modernization of licensing processes and constant control of gaming activities throughout the state“, stated Petrônio Rolim, Superintendent of LOTEP.

Among the topics raised in the meeting were the mechanisms of responsible gaming, enforcement, and measures against illegal gambling.
