Norway vs. Senegal projected lineups, starting 11 for World Cup 2026 Group I game at MetLife Stadium

After his electric start to life at the FIFA World Cup, Erling Haaland and Norway aim to snatch a firm position near the top of their group standings as they meet African giants Senegal at MetLife Stadium on Monday.

Haaland scored a brace in a 4-1 win over Iraq to begin the group stage, as the stars were out in the first round of Group I play.

Senegal, meanwhile, fell victim to a Kylian Mbappe double in its opening match but still has plenty of room to recover its standing as it aims for a knockout place.

The Sporting News brings you a look at the predicted starting lineups for both teams, as well as an overview of their World Cup squads, plus odds, predictions, and how to watch the game.

Led by Haaland up front, this Norway team is more than just its few superstars. The Manchester City striker is partnered with Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard and Atletico Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth.

Twenty-one-year-old Antonio Nusa is a rising star on the wing at RB Leipzig, while 22-year-old Andreas Schjelderup is coming off an impressive season at Benfica. They also feature a number of players from the Bodo/Glimt team that made a deep run in the most recent Champions League campaign.

Senegal projected starting 11

Lamine Camara impressed in the opener against France, especially in the first half when he did well to control possession and break up Les Bleus moves forward.

The Senegal front three is potent, as Nicolas Jackson may not be the best finisher but can still be deadly when Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr are in support.

Norway vs. Senegal predictions, betting odds

Both of these teams have potent attacking units, but Norway have the unmatchable Erling Haaland, who the Vikings will be looking to get as many chances as humanly possible. He scored a brace on five shots in the opener against Iraq, and will be likely to get out in front of goal again in this match.

Senegal are absolutely capable of getting a result in this game, no question, but it’s just difficult to pick against a team with Haaland when all other things look about equal.

  • Score prediction: Norway 2-1 Senegal
