Although Guardiola’s successor after a trophy-laden 10 seasons at the Etihad Stadium is yet to be announced, Enzo Maresca is widely expected to take the reins.
Former Chelsea boss Maresca will have a period of transition to oversee and a tough challenge ahead as the greats of the game have often proved difficult to replace in the Premier League.
City won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup last season but have gone two seasons without winning the top prize in England for the first time since a three-year fallow spell between 2014/15 and 2016/17.
Here, we break down Manchester City’s start to the campaign and the season run-in, along with some of their standout fixtures of the year to come.

Man City 2026/27 key fixtures: When is the north London derby
Games between Manchester City and Arsenal have become appointment viewing over recent seasons. Their games are only six weeks apart this season, with City at the Emirates on November 28 and Arsenal heading to the Etihad Stadium on January 30.
We are now fully out of the Klopp vs. Guardiola era, but City’s trip to face Liverpool at Anfield — where they won in front of a crowd for the first time since 2003 last season — on October 10 will be keenly anticipated.
Following their early season trip to Old Trafford, City welcome Manchester United across town on March 20.
