Alphonso Davies is the most well-known member of Canada’s national soccer team.
He’s a star for German powerhouse Bayern Munich, and he’s the fastest player on every pitch he steps on.

Despite that, he missed Canada’s first match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Canada is back in action Thursday night against Qatar, and Davies was again a question mark.

Is Alphonso Davies playing tonight?
Davies isn’t in Canada’s starting 11 on Thursday night for the Qatar match.
He’s technically available to come in off the bench, but that’s no sure thing.
The pregame review from a reporter on the ground wasn’t convinced that Davies would actually be available:

A day prior to the match, Canada head coach Jesse Marsch did say Davies would be available. That’s difference than his status for the Bosnia match, where he was ruled out in advance.
