The Three Lions opened up Euro 2020 on home soil with a 1-0 win over Zlatko Dalic’s side, a revenge result following their 2-1 loss in the 2018 World Cup semifinals.
There are still plenty of survivors from those battles, most notably on the Croatian side, where captain Luka Modric is set to win his 199th international cap in midfield.
Dalic is still in charge of the Balkan nation, but Thomas Tuchel succeeded Gareth Southgate after England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain and will take charge of a game at a major international tournament for the first time.
