Haiti vs. Scotland projected lineups, starting 11 for World Cup 2026 Group C game in Boston

Haiti and Scotland each end a long absence from the biggest stage when they face one another in their World Cup Group C opener.

On their only previous tournament appearance, Haiti lost all three matches in 1974 and bowed out at the group stage.

Scotland also fell in the round robin stage in 1974, as they have done on all eight of their World Cup adventures, up to and including their previous outing in 1998.

Victory for Steve Clarke’s side would give them a good chance of making history and reaching the knockout rounds.

Defeat would be deeply problematic for either side. Brazil and Morocco round out Group C and are both ranked inside the world’s top 10 by FIFA.

Isidor is likely to be partnered in attack by Duckens Nazon, who has Haiti’s all-time leading scorer with 44 goals in 82 internationals, although none of those have come in 2026.

Scotland projected starting 11

(4-4-2, right to left): Gunn  (GK) — Hickey, Souttar, McKenna, Robertson — Gannon-Doak, McTominay, Ferguson, Christie — Adams, Shankland.

  • Injured: S. McTominay (illness, doubt), McKenna (knock, doubt)

Scotland’s main concern centres on star midfielder Scott McTominay. The Napoli favourite travelled separately to Boston, away from his teammates, after being taken ill with a suspected stomach bug.

Defender Scott McKenna missed training on Thursday with a knock, although his problem is not thought to be serious.

New Rangers signing Lawrence Shankland is expected to start up front and could be partnered in attack by Che Adams.
