The breathtaking Game 4 victory gives New York a commanding 3-1 series lead. It also earned the team ultimate praise from some of basketball’s most legendary figures.

«They fought like true champs,» Shaquille O’Neal said during the postgame broadcast on Inside the NBA. «They showed that legendary championship DNA in front of their home fans.»

San Antonio completely dominated early on. They built a massive 76-49 lead by halftime after shooting a blistering 11-of-16 from beyond the arc.

That efficiency vanished in the second half. New York’s suffocating defense sparked a furious counter-attack, holding the Spurs to just 30 points after the break.

«You can’t teach that type of heart,» Draymond Green noted on the panel. «To see a team completely turn the tide like that requires unbelievable grit and collective willpower.»

Jalen Brunson spearheaded the offense by scoring 36 points. His relentless drives constantly broke down the San Antonio interior defense.

The final, decisive blow came from forward OG Anunoby. He leaped through a crowded paint to tip in a missed jumper with just 1.2 seconds remaining.

«You look at it when you’re down 29 of, ‘OK, let’s get it to 20,'» Josh Hart said. «In the fourth quarter, you’re like, this is winning time.»

The Spurs failed to get off a final shot. Their execution completely stalled under New York’s intense pressure.

The best-of-seven series now shifts back to Texas for Game 5 on Saturday. The surging Knicks are officially one win away from their first NBA title since 1973.
