Myles Garrett trade details: Rams acquire reigning DPOY from Browns in stunning deal

The Los Angeles Rams and Cleveland Browns stunned fans on Monday afternoon, agreeing to a trade involving superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett, per Adam Schefter. In the trade, the Rams are also sending back a young defensive star, Jared Verse.

Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and a Hall of Fame-type talent, is now set to headline Sean McVay’s defense as the Rams add yet another superstar to their roster.

For now, the details of the Garrett trade are not yet finalized. Per Ian Rapoport, the two teams are expected to finalize the compensation for Garrett later on Monday.

However, according to Schefter, the headliners of the Browns’ return package for Garrett are expected to be Verse and a 2027 first-round pick.

While the Rams are landing the NFL’s premier pass rusher in Garrett, Cleveland is also poised to get a massive boost for its future outlook not just by acquiring another first-round pick in what could be a terrific 2027 draft for quarterbacks, but also with Verse, who has totaled 12 sacks in his first two NFL seasons as one of the best young defenders in the league. 

It’s the definition of a blockbuster — and as the Rams have proved in their acquisitions of Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, Trent McDuffie and more over recent years, they will continue valuing superstars over draft picks.
