The Broncos released a statement on Monday afternoon confirming Queensland Origin forward Pat Carrigan has suffered a syndesmosis injury.

Meanwhile, Maroons backline reserve Gehamat Shibasaki also picked up a Grade MCL knee injury.

It’s feared both players will miss considerably longer than just Brisbane’s Round 14 match against the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday night.

“Early indications suggest Carrigan is not required to have surgery and will be sidelined for approximately 3-4 weeks,” Broncos officials explained.

“Gehamat Shibasaki has sustained a Grade 2 MCL injury with an approximate recovery time of 5-6 weeks.”

The latest setbacks come at the worst possible time for the reigning premiers with their top-30 squad already stretched through injuries and the club currently on a four-match losing streak.
