Dynam Japan Registers Lower FY2026 Profit Amid Weak Pachinko Sales

Dynam Japan Holdings recorded a 35.1% fall in earnings attributed to the company’s shareholders during the year ended March 31, 2026, while maintaining its final dividend at JPY2.5, which is equivalent to $0.016 per share. The pachinko hall operators in Japan cited weak trading and increased costs behind the company’s performance in the full year.

Revenue And Profit Pressure

Based on the information that was filed to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Thursday, the attributable profit was JPY2.603 billion, or $16.3 million, compared to JPY4.009 billion for the corresponding period in the previous year. The profit before income tax was 34.5% lower than in the same quarter last year, at JPY3.975 billion, or $24.9 million. Meanwhile, the revenue decreased by 2.3% compared to the previous period to JPY123.186 billion, or $772.7 million.

Consolidated operating profit also declined, falling 16.6% year-on-year to JPY9.154 billion, or $57.4 million. Revenue from the group’s core pachinko business dropped 3.0% to JPY115.43 billion, or $724.1 million, showing the continued pressure on the company’s main revenue source.

Dynam said the weaker performance was partly due to higher impairment losses and finance expenses, even though pachinko operating costs were lower. Other operating expenses surged 79.9% to JPY5.227 billion, or $32.8 million, mainly because of increased impairment losses on non-financial assets.

Hall Network Adjusts

As of 31 March 2026, the group operated 423 pachinko halls, down from 427 a year earlier. During the year, it opened 2 new halls and closed 6 unprofitable locations. The company said the 2 newly opened halls both featured more pachislot machines than pachinko machines in order to better match market demand.

The Japanese pachinko gaming sector also reported some improvement in player base in the fiscal year under review, driven mainly by smart pachislot machines. However, traditional pachinko machines are still struggling to recover from a slump. That shift in player interest continues to shape how operators allocate floor space and machine mix across their halls.

Dividend Remains In Place

Despite the weaker earnings, the board declared a final dividend of JPY2.5, or $0.016, per share. It will be payable on 26 June 2026 to shareholders on record as of 5 June.

Adding up the interim dividend payment to Dynam’s total annual dividend resulted in JPY5.0 ($0.031) per share. This reflects the company’s desire to maximize shareholders’ returns despite the adverse revenue and profit trends.

Full-Year Results In Focus

The latest results show a company still working through softer pachinko revenue and higher non-operating costs while adapting its hall network to changing demand. With more pachislot machines at its newest sites and a smaller overall hall count, Dynam is continuing to adjust its business mix to match the direction of the market.

The maintained dividend gives investors some stability, but the full-year figures underline that the operating environment for pachinko hall operators remains challenging.
