Pep Guardiola’s side overcame an FA Cup semifinal scare against Southampton last weekend to reach a fourth consecutive final, although it means they have once again fallen behind Arsenal in terms of games played.
The Everton match is the first of five Premier League matches in 21 days for Guardiola’s men, in what promises to be a thrilling sprint to the finish line.
David Moyes’ side are back at the Hill Dickinson Stadium following their sapping derby loss to Liverpool, and a subsequent loss at relegation-threatened West Ham further hit their hopes of European football.

Rodri
- Injury: Groin
- Expected return date: May 4 (vs. Everton)
Rodri has returned to something close to his best form over recent weeks, with the improvement in City’s wider performances no coincidence. However, a groin injury sustained during the closing stages of the crucial victory over Arsenal ruled him out of the Burnley game. The Spain midfielder sat out the FA Cup semifinal win over Southampton and three days before the trip to Everton, Guardiola said: «He’s getting better, he still didn’t train with us. We will see in the next day. I’m always confident.»
Ruben Dias
- Injury: Hamstring
- Expected return date: May 4 (vs. Everton)
After picking up a hamstring injury in the second Champions League match against Real Madrid, centre-back Dias missed the Carabao Cup final and withdrew from international duty. The 28-year-old’s absence ticked past a month when Guardiola ruled him out of the trip to Burnley on April 22, although the superb partnership forged by Abdukodir Khusanov and Marc Guehi in Dias’ absence means there is little need to rush his return.
Josko Gvardiol
- Injury: Tibia fracture
- Expected return date: May
Man City suffered a brutal blow in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, as the opening match of 2026 brought with it terrible news. Defender Gvardiol, who has been a pillar of consistency for City in recent seasons, went down in the second half with a tibia fracture, confirmed by the club the following day.
City confirmed that Gvardiol underwent surgery for the broken leg. His recovery is progressing well and there is hope the Croatia international will return to action before the end of the season.
