Storm reveals shock Bellamy health diagnosis: ‘I want to be clear’
Once again the NRL community has been reminded there are more important things in life than football with news Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy is battling a serious health condition.

The Storm made an announcement on Thursday night confirming the 66-year-old has been diagnosed with a form of Neurodegenerative Disorder, but did not provide further specifics.
“Over recent weeks, in consultation with specialists, Craig has undergone a series of medical tests and has since been diagnosed with a form of Neurodegenerative Disorder,” the Storm said via a statement.
“He is receiving the best possible medical treatment and has been advised by specialists that his diagnosis will not have an impact on his ability to coach the team in the immediate future.”

In an email to Storm members, CEO Justin Rodski stressed that despite the shock news Bellamy would carry on in his role as the club’s NRL coach.

“I want to be clear… Craig will continue to coach our club, he has our full support and is now in Brisbane preparing for tomorrow night’s match against the Dolphins with the same intensity and attitude as he has done for the last 24 years,” Rodski wrote.
“There is no doubt, it has been a tough start to the season but we know this Club has the strength and resilience to climb back up that mountain.
“Our players, coaches and staff are fully committed to that. Now, more than ever, we need the Storm Family in our corner too, supporting your team, your coaches and your Club.”
In February Bellamy extended his contract as Melbourne Storm head coach until the end of the 2028 season.
