Louisiana’s gaming market slipped in March, with casinos, mobile sportsbooks, and daily fantasy operators all reporting weaker results compared with last year.

The latest filings from the Louisiana State Police show a month that moved in different directions depending on the segment, but the overall picture points to a slowdown. Caesars New Orleans, the state’s only land‑based casino, posted higher revenue than February but still fell short of its March 2025 performance.
Mobile sports betting data was also similar, wagers climbed, but net proceeds lagged behind last year as operators continued to absorb heavy promotional deductions. Daily fantasy sports also closed the month in the red.
Land-based casino revenue slips despite month-to-month lift
Caesars New Orleans, the state’s lone land‑based casino, generated $29m in gross gaming revenue for March. That total was a noticeable improvement from February’s $25.2m, giving the property a 15% month‑over‑month increase. But the year‑over‑year comparison data shows something different.
Caesars earned $30m in March 2025, meaning this year’s figure landed 3.4% lower despite stronger admissions and a full 31‑day operating month.
The fiscal‑year‑to‑date numbers also show the same trend. Caesars has pulled in $225.8m in GGR since July, up 10% from the same period last year. Admissions are also higher, rising 14% year‑to‑date.
Mobile sports betting sees higher handle but weaker returns
Louisiana’s mobile sportsbooks posted a mixed March, with betting volume rising but operator revenue still behind last year.
Wagers climbed to $372.5m, up slightly from March 2025, yet the lift in handle didn’t translate into stronger returns. Net proceeds came in at $42.7m, which is a big jump from February but still reflects a market dealing with heavy promotional deductions and softer win rates. Operators also wrote off more than $5.3m in promos.
The year‑to‑date comparison shows the market running behind FY25, with net proceeds down more than 13%. The numbers suggest that while bettors are still active, operators are earning less from each dollar wagered.
Daily fantasy sports also record declining revenue
Daily fantasy sports followed the same downward trend seen across the rest of Louisiana’s gaming market. DFS operators reported $508k in gross contest revenue for March, down nearly 14% from the same month last year.
Net revenue also slipped to $62k, marking another month where the segment failed to match prior‑year performance. Taxes paid came in at just under $5k. Through March, DFS has generated $11.1m in gross revenue, only a slight improvement over last year, while net revenue is down 2.6%.
